Hi,

I have a 2005 C180 W203 Estate

Yesterday I found one inch of water in the driver's footwell.

We have had a fiar bit of rain recently and the car is always parked outside

I have searched the forum and found lots of people have had problems with water in the passenger side which tends to be caused by blocked drains. There seem to be few instances of water in the driver's footwell though.

My drains appear to be clear. Anyone any thoughts on what is causing my the pond in my footwell. Also any tips on removing the carpet from the drivers footwell to get it dry would be much appreciated.

PS I had a new windscreen fitted in May but I would doubt that is the issue as the water has only just turned up.

Many thanks in anticipation

I'm no expert but I would have thought an inch of water would have been accumulating over some time and if your drains really are clear, and routed correctly, then the windscreen would be the most likely culprit. I think read once though of some problems also with blanking plugs/grommets through the bulkhead where water was getting sprayed up into a car.

Hope you can find the source and sorry I can't be of more help.

Hello

I thought it could be the seal around the front window...but if this has been changed..?

maybe not.

What about any of the air conditioning pipework is that behind the bulkhead on that side?

You may find it is caused by blocked drainage channels, causing water to enter the cabin behind the dashboard.

Edit:

Sorry, just read that you mentioned that your drain channels are clear.

Problem solved (hopefully) Autoglass refitted windscreen - Poor Bonding!

Update:

Autoglass came today and removed the windscreen that they fitted in May 2010.

The technician was very good and told me that the bonding had not taken properly on the drivers side which was the cause of the water leak.

Windscreen refitted so now I will wait for the rain and see if the problem has been well and truly solved.

Hopefully the carpet will dry out without going musty. I tried to look at removing the section of carpet in the driver's footwell but it seems you have to remove the accelerator pedal to get it out and I'm not confident enough to go down that route.

Anyone else had this problem with a new windscreen?

Thanks for replies
