Just a quick non-mb question... can anyone recommend a reliable and cheap web host? I have tried flair and poundhost; but flair doesn't seem to host sites (correct me if I am wrong) and poundhost does dedicated servers; which I'm a little too new to use :)

I have found easyspace to be cheap; very cheap.... almost too cheap....
http://www.easyspace.com/
I can't really figure the catch other than they charge £"5 extra for a SQL database.... ideas?

If you have broadband and don't mind your machine being on 24/7, become your own host! Cost = zilch (excluding electricity ;) ) Have as many SQL databases as you want!

See www.dslwebserver.com for info.

All you need in terms of software is:-

Apache, for web content;
PHP & MySQL if you want to run a nice slick forum like this;
PERL if you want to process information from forms etc..

All are open source, ie free to download.

Smartbrabus, thanks for the link; I was looking for something like that, but not for my main site. Ted, I have tried 1and1; but I found it "ironic" how 1and1.com costs roughly £4 to get a com domain, which 1and1.co.uk it costs £8ish...

Just wanted to drag this thread out of the depths of time! Ted, I ended goign with 1and1.co.uk - I now can't seem to upgrade more than once every 30 days! Even if I need the extra bandwidth!

Oh well, live and learn ;) I might swap hosts if they wont let me upgrade... Any other suggestions? (I'm 300mb within the limit of my monthly bandwidth allowance... 2.7gb in a week!)
