What constitutes business use?

There's more than one tier of business use though...

Normally it goes.
SD&P
SD&P+Commuting (one fixed place of work)
Class-1 Business - multiple locations, travelling with colleagues, not carrying goods/samples - only materials of NCV
Class-2 Business - as class 1 but carrying materials/equipment.

HTH.

For most business people, Class 1 is OK as your company will insure the goods under separate cover, it's only if you as an individual are personally liable for the security/safety of the goods while they are in your possession that you would need class 2.

Cheers,
Dan.

Mrs A is a community nurse and it was mandatory for her to have business use insurance before getting a job offer. Her insurance company included it FOC.

I am mainly based at one hospital. However, I also do some teaching as part of my job, which is either at one of the other hospitals in Bristol or at the university. If I drive to these sites, does this constitute business use?

Yes.

£70 increase does sound a lot though. I added business use to my insurance when I took it out late last year and the additional amount was so negligible (+/-£10) I just ok'd it without question.
