Hi all;

I have recently started out on my own writing web sites.
I just wanted to get an idea as to how many people use which browsers for surfing the internet.
This is to give me an idea as to which ones I should be testing against.

Thanks in advance to anyone who votes.

IE im afraid...

Do they even still make Netscape? very old skool :)

I use Aol which uses its own browser programme. I also have safari downloaded and I do quite like that ...default when opening emails in outlook with link pages is i.e.7

According to my website stats for the last 12 months.....40,680 unique visitors:-

IE - 82.52%
Firefox - 12.49%
Safari - 3.79%

All the others making up the difference none of which register more than 0.5%

Always have been and always will be using Microsoft Internet Explorer. IE8 shall soon be released as its currently in the beta stage.

I use firefox and think its the best browser avaliable at the moment on windows. The netscape browser was taken by Mozilla and developed to the browser it is today. And if you look at IE it is slowy evolving into the type of browsers opera and firefox are. An example being the addition of tabbed browsing and layouts within the browser on the IE7, where as opera and firefox have always had features like these avaliable.

Another reason why IE is the most popular as it is shipped with the OS and the worlds most popular OS is windows and alot of users are not too fussed to find a better browser as it does the job...

I binned IE long ago and run Firefox together with Thunderbird for e-mail.

Much cleaner simpler and love the multitab view. If I had time to follow up my trial with Linux, I'd give up microsoft in a heartbeat.

IE on the windows boxes and Camino on the Mac boxes... I tend to shy away from FireFox... even when in *nix...

Thank you very much; this is the sort of percentages I was asuming.

Thanks and I agree; tab browsing is excellent but I wish when you try to close explorer with more then one tab open we could have 'close all tabs'; 'close this tab only' or exit options!

Great feedback

I use Opera becaue its really quick and so obscure there arent too many attacks on it :)

I use the AOL one 95% of the time but switch to Firefox for Internet banking and stuff like that since AOL sometimes struggles.

Reluctantly its IE6 for me. Wont touch IE7 unless absolutely necessary. Its horrible.

firefox for me - but at the moments its going very slow :(

Same for me and I've been having the same speed problem for the last 24hrs.

I changed to Firefox after endless problems with IE7 freezing. Until yesterday, Firefox has been faultless. It is certainly more stable (IMHO) than IE.

Usually Firefox. IE if the website prefers. Some still dont work properly with Firefox.
