What makes it an AMG?

Yes i agree, i actually met the man who built my engine Mr Becker and the factory tour was very impressive. When we arrived ( Bryan,Matt and Harry ) they had the Union Jack Flying a nice touch + Four AMG's driving all that way from Calais was very interesting!!! Highly recommended. :):D:cool:

I was told when I bought my C63 that it could be arranged to meet the person who built my engine, which brings to mind an idea for a bit of an AMG road trip to Affalterbach using the North Sea Ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge. Just a thought at the moment but maybe a few Northerners might be interested and we could arrange something. For those who have never been Bruges is also a lovely place to visit and could be a stop over. ;)

For me: large capacity engine - preferably N/A, auto gearbox, and softer suspension.

whats makes an amg is the jekyll and hyde nature of any amg car. Classy, luxurious, sedate and at a flick of a switch a different beast unleashed, big displacement engines, tyre muncher, oodles of torque. Not a weapon of choice per se of a surgeon as jeremy clarkson said but a murderer with a sledgehammer.

So would people class a w/s203 c32 not a proper AMG??

Certainly not "AMG Line" which mine is. It has some AMG styling (and mats o_O)exhaust, wheels etc but I'm not fooling myself....I've been to the AMG works in Germany.

Maybe next time.......:)

Does it have a signature on the engine.......;)

Looks like it :)

It dink dang does, and the W203 C32 AMG does traditional "AMG" perfectly, a proper hot rod. Never a track weapon, and nor should it be, but well judged for fast driving in the real world, with surprisingly good feel through the steering wheel.

When all your money disappears filling up & when you have a constant smile from when you turn the key. :D

Its all about that lump!
Pretty decent video of one of these V8 beauts being build -

Being a designated AMG, and not an AMG Sport, or other dreamer mobile...

I can't understand this thread, I really can't. It's full of dreamers and compassioners. Can't we just snap back to reality?

C43AMG how does one go about arranging a visit to the factory?
Notice needed? Cost? Tips?
Thanks in advance.

Having looked at the video, its impressive. But i do wonder why do MB still employ this process. Humans make mistakes, machines don't. It's nice having this regime but not at all cost effective. A machine can do this much more efficiently than a human; faster, cheaper, more accurately. Perhaps Mercedes see this as a successful PR gimmick which enhances sales?
