Could anyone help me on what is included in a maintenence service and how it differs from a lubrication service? My R129 is due a service and I'm curious to know what I'll be getting for my money - Whatever the car needs will be done, but I'm curious to know if I'll be paying for a Mercedes technician to walk around my car 'inspecting' basis £100/hour + VAT !!!
Thanks in advance

The Maintenance Booklet (the one with the stamps in) with my car lists the jobs that are done on each type of service.

Maintenance is every 2yrs or 18000miles. It involves checking the engine/passenger compartment, nuts, bolts, seats ,sunroof, bootlid and just about everything in the car including the door locks and roof racks +towbar.

Lubrication is 9000miles or every year and is part of the maintenance. It only involves engine stuff like oil, coolant.filters and brake fluid e.t.c
So if you do maintenance in 2000/10Kmiles, you will have done lubrication as well as it is part of the maintenance. Then you will need only another lubrication in 2001/19kmiles, and another maintenance in 2002/28kmiles or whichever comes first.
Basically I do the maintenance myself and just let the garage sort out the lubrication.
The maintenance is more expensive anyway.

Thanks for your thoughts guys, much appreciated.
