What to do about a teeny tiny stone chip?

So finally gave the car a (very) quick wash the other day, and noticed a tiny little stone chip on the front wing. Should I just wash as normal and the wax (zaino I'm using) will protect it and stop any rust? Or should I do something else? -years ago a friend said to rub a little layer of a chap stick or Vaseline onto it to 'seal' it...

I wax the area, drop a dollop of touch-up paint in the hole, let it dry and then scrape the excess off with a very damp (soft) fingernail that’s been filed smoothish prior to prevent scratching the paint. The wax makes it easier to remove the paint that doesn't go in the hole. If the paint is hard to shift, let some road grime build up on the paint before dropping in the touch-up paint.

Repeat a few times to build up the chip hole. Works for me...

For small chips, I'd recommend purchasing a kit from ChipEx.

I used it on my last car and it is idiot proof and is a permanent fix. Going to purchase a kit for the CLK soon for some niggling chips.

Buy some touch up paint, and apply it using a cocktail stick. Just touch the end of the stick in the middle of the chip and let the paint flow in. If it's metallic, do the same with the laquuer when the basecoat is dry.

Newbie question: I've read that in the cold the paint can take a day to dry properly- is it driveable in that time?

Times like this I wish I had a garage!

That's as in harden all the way through, the surface will skin over in no time, just don't poke it.

MB touch up sticks from a main dealer (a two pack, paint and laquer) are cheap enough at about 12 squid, and you're guaranteed a colour match.
