What can i do to get more power from this engines?

my thoughts

1. New and bigger intercooler
2. More pressure in the turbo
3. New exaust line
4. New BMC Carbon Dinamic Admission
5. Rebuild some air lines and tubes

tell me more mods that kan get this baby up and runing with the big boys <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Chip it! <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

I've got a 220CDi which is now producing 173bhp and 370Nm. The cars driveability has been transformed and shows the classic 'diesel dust' to many petrol engined cars who just don't grasp the capability of a good diesel engine.

Try www.dmsautomotive.co.uk for details they give 180bhp and 339Nm for a 250TD and 217bhp and 385Nm for a 300TD.

Much less hassle than bolting on bigger bits as someone else has already done the development (I've seen big intercoller kits for other cars at twice the price of a chip&#33<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

Hope this helps!

the 250TD is dated 1992. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> producing 126bhp and 230Nm <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> no electronics here! <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Well if there isn't any chips then it's back to the traditional tuning methods which for a diesel are:

1. fuelling
2. charge temperature
3. boost

so you have to:

1. adjust the mechanical diesel injection pump to add more fuel (not too much 'cos you'll just get smoke&#33<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>
2. make the intercooler larger (denser charge, better combustion etc - still needs more fuel though)
3. increase the boost - old style mods are by adjusting the wastegate - crude but if you're careful it can work.

The main thing is to ask someone who knows what to do beacause any of these mods if not done properley can blow your motor! <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'>

I can vouch for Richards conversion, I've been in his C220 T and it is very impressive, the torque in the engine is amazing, it pulls in every gear. It will kill us V6 boys dead!!

Blimey, how embarassing is that!!!!

Diesel beating a V6...i never thought i would see the day!

Thanks for the endorsement Greg, yes I looked at a V6 when I bought the 220, and was highly impressed with the smoothness and refinement, but the combination of easy tunability and 42mpg on a recent run to scotland was the decider!
