whats my wifes car worth?

A Volvo's not even a Volvo any more! :D

Mercedes dealers really need to lift their game. This sort of attitude is commonplace from what i read on the internet, and i've experienced similar myself in the past at Merc dealers. Wondering around vehicles for ages after parking my CLK cabrio outside, still not one salesperson bothered to get up from their desk to chat. One (non merc) dealer even wanted me to leave a non refundable deposit before he would give me a test drive a car. no thanks. :dk:

on a sidenote, i love buying cars at the cheaper end of the market though; buying my wife's picasso and alfa was a dream - the guy just gave us the keys and told us to take it for a spin :thumb: allows me to do all my tests/checks without having a salesman breathing down my neck with all his patter, but its nice to be told the salesman is there when you want to speak.

a volvo is not a mercedes.

Neither is Saab, BMW, Ford etc..... but as for service, MB Dealerships/Sales people really need to learn a thing or two about customer service.

I like MB, alot, but will not accept bad treatment just because they have the attitude of "we work for MB so we can treat any clients which ever way we want". Even at the local Bentley garage I get really great service and a Bentley is a few league's ahead of MB.

Having worked "behind the scenes" in the trade (warranty repairs on car audio stuff) I can confirm that, from Aberdeen to Exeter, no other dealer network has quite the sh***y attitude you'll find under the 3 pointed star; it's really quite surprising that so many disparate dealers could be such a pain to deal with, but it seemed to be demonstrably true that MB dealers were to a one complete *&&%^% &%%$* and %^&s

"Dear Mr MB dealer,

A golf tee trapped in a CD changer is not a warranty fault, especially not after either the customer or yourself attempted to remove it with a crowbar and hacksaw. PS I'm not blind and gluing the case shut with windscreen sealant didn't help your chances."

^^^ Actually happened, dealer went to my boss to try and get me sacked for not just fixing it and billing Bosch.

My experience in that workshop has soured me on MB dealers for life.

Best dealers were unfailingly Skoda ones, I found, but then this was in the early VW days so maybe they were just relieved the skip jokes were dying out.

I have just had the wife's 2 year old Golf serviced (20k service & brake fluid as part of the £199 30,000mile/3yr pre-paid package we took when we bought it new).

The dealer is Drivethedeal.com's VW partner and supplied the car via them at the best price I could find anywhere (they treat Drivethedeal as a "fleet" customer, saving all their usual sales costs, but still perform 1-to-1 handover).

We collected out of hours and the car was clean inside and out with a letter on the passenger seat.

The letter said that they had taken the opportunity, at 2 years old, to appraise the car and stated a p/ex value they would offer against the equiv Mk6 version.

Then there were monthly net numbers for the new car on PCP over 24 and 36 months at her current miles-per-year together with an offer for a 24 hour test drive, a brochure & options pack and the guy's card.

Even if we are not ready to buy, the likelihood of "virally" passing on the positive surprise of the experience is very high...

As the parrot says, "that's the way to do it"....
