Hi all.

Just after some opinions on this subject.

I bought a used 11 plate C350 CDi with 7k on the clock a few days ago and noticed some very slight scrubbing on the nsf tyre.

Thought it was best to get the geometry checked, here are the before and after results;

They couldn't adjust the NSF camber as they didn't have a bolt kit.

Looking at the small amount that it's out will this cause an issue?

Me being a it **** about these things then I'd have had to obtain a Camber Bolt before having it done if they don't stock them.

It'll be fine probably but if it were me I'd be going back with a Bolt in me mitts!

Drive round the block and test again. Bet it's in spec...

All feels fine, much better than before.

It's only a few fractions of a degree away from MB tolerances so i'm guessing it should be fine ie not eating tyres!

Same here!

If i'd have known that before i would have if they had told me when i booked it in!

It's 0.0? out so i don't thik it will be a problem?

If that makes a difference, we are all in trouble!

LOL, excatly what i was thinking!

Would changing from 17" to 18" wheels cause this? (as in this case)

No, as long as the tyres maintained the correct rolling diameter.

Yes they are (I think)

I kept my 18" AMG twin spokes from my C320 which i traded as they had all been changed by MB a few weeks ago due to them being corroded from the center caps / hub outwards.

I didn't want the 17" on the new car so the dealer agreed to let me keep my wheels (which are newer than the car)

I thought ~1/2 a degree of camber difference would be visible to the eye and feel different when driving. When I have my cars adjusted the LHS vs RHS cambers are usually only different by about 5 minutes.

The NSF camber is very wrong and should be dealt with, the only problem i can see is once the camber is corrected to car will probably pull/drift left due to the symmetrical castor positions.

Thanks for your comments.

Does that mean the car needs a full realignment once the NSF has been corrected?

The whole car would need to be measured and an adjuster bolt fitted to correct the camber but as said it may pull left due to the even castor positions so it could end up with two or even three bolts fitted.

It took 3 bolts to get mine right.

This doesn't sound like an expensive fix.

It's only three bolts right?

Or am I over simplifying the issue?

Have now!

Interesting.

So far HiQ have charged me £65 for the adjustments using their Hunter kit (only used HiQ as they were the nearest to me with a Hunter).

Spoken with my local dealer and they have quoted £180 including the bolt kit but to be fair that includes a complete realign.

The supplying dealer has agreed to meet some of the cost at least as i've only had the car (almost) a week.

The fiver is in the post.
haha!

tbh, i'd happily pay the £180 just to know its sorted properly as if this goes on much longer it will cost me that in a new conti 3!

Expecting an update from the dealer tomorrow once they have had chance to look / laugh at the printout!
