I have an S500Coupe and the cowels inside the wheel arches have come adrift allowing weather into the bodywork.

Anyone else had the same thing? I've heard about it on A-Class rear wheel arches but there's more of them about 🤦‍♂️

Not saying it is this, but on the w212 I've read about some of the threaded, welded studs e.g. at the top of the wheel arch, corroding and snapping off, allowing the liner to move.

Grinding flat and applying a new threaded stud is the answer in that case.

I seem to remember the stud is attached to a specific electric welder and is used as the tip of the welder, and the contact and spark welds the stud to the metal, and is then disconnected from the welding tool/machine leaving the stud in place.

Can't remember the correct technical nomenclature for the above I'm afraid.
