Hi all, i need to get some work done to the polished dish part of my amg alloys on a c43 , they are not damaged as such , just a bit of oxidising i think, have any of you had similar and can you recommend a mobile guy who covers the surrey area? thanks Leigh

Try a firm called Amazing Alloys, they are mobile and really do a great job.

thanks guys, i will call them t-moro, Leigh

afraid my brother isn't mobile as he did the lip of my c43 amg wheels and they came out really well. if you get no joy with the mobile places drop me a message he might be able to do some thing for you but his shop is in streatham although he lives in Epsom

cheers

Matt

not sure if the mobile places will do the polished lip as its mnormally machined, also it can only be done a few times.

Diamond polishing no, buff polished yes:

Buff polishing removes far less than diamond polishing and can be done many times.

Just an additional comment here, Stats007 did my 19" AMG Styling IV multipiece titan wheels, which were bought used and seriously corroded.

He did a wonderful job, as i'm sure the one or two other forum members that have seen them will agree.

Yes that is my C43 that Andrew did, great job.

I wouldnt bother with these mobile guys!

I had my wheels done by a company called prestine. done a amazing job, they start by dipping the wheels in acid taking them back to bare metal.

Unlike some of the cowboys out there.

does the buffed lip not leave it as a exposed surface?

Would be interesting to know your reasoning as to why anyone with a mobile service is a cowboy?

Buff polished can (and usually is) be left as exposed alloy or can be lacquered.

I would not Tar everyone with the same Brush new member.

You should take time and read the previous threads.

i am not sure about mobile wheel /alloy refurbishers.but i had my alloys from M5 & E43 done by SPIT N POLISH IN SUSSEX.
EXCELLENT SERVICE THEY GAVE AND IF U RING THEM THEY CAN ARRANGE FOR COLLECTION AS WELL

I would suggest Pristine or Lepsons before you try Spit & Polish.

Ive used Spitn Polish - their their finish is far from perfect when you inspect it closely. I had my AMGs done by them and in all honesty I would have sent them back if it wasn't for the hastle of having to go through all of that again !

Me being picky I guess as I don't think anyone would inspect my alloys to the level I was inspecting them :)

I too have had a pretty poor experience from Spit and Polish. I've had 2 sets done there and they were both pretty poor. You could see the pitting afterwards...

They're not cheap either!

I had a set of staggered AMG 18" wheels a few years ago that had been refurbed by Lepsons - seemed quite good with the diamond cut lips etc :)

I think the risk with many of the larger operations is that the quality can vary depending on how busy they are/who does the work etc. Eg, I had a set of wheels refurbished by BJV a couple of years ago and they were appalling, although I have also heard of a few good reports too?

There's only one place that I would consider for wheel refurbishing these days though - Amazing Alloys. I am always very impressed with Andy's attention to detail - never a rushed job etc. I think that's what sets his work apart from most other refurbishers.
