Hi all, not certain what to do.
Bought some 2nd user wheels for my c180 I'm putting togeather and yesterday in haste bought a too large set of wheels. (don't you just hate that)
I'm completely clueless honestly when it comes to wheels. Tyres are ok its just the wierd sizes and offsets of the rims etc. when tyres dont match the wheel sizes. gggrrrrr
Could anyone please have a look at this link to the site I bought them off please. They look stock MB, and offer some clues so would like to know what they were off so I may see if they'll fit mine with new tyres or whatever otherwise I'll have to advertise them eleswhere.

The wheels measured 18" dia though tyres say 17". This is how I got them in error!!

The (tyres) are 255/45/17 silver painted / lacquered ally, 7 spoke.

The tyres in the picture are 17", so the wheels are 17", not 18".

These are the standard wheels that are fitted to the R230 SL.. They should fit your car with different bolts and smaller tyres.. 255 should be ok for the back but a smaller size of 225 for the front...

Have you been here: http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/information/fitting_chart/mercedes-benz

Width and offset should be in the inside of the casing somewhere that will help you check for similar sizes that fit a w203 in the chart. At a guess they should be OK with 225/45/17 on (poss 245/40/17 on the rear). All depends on the width and offset.

Edit: And like BG says you should be able to get away with the 255s on the rear.

Thats very helpful thanks,
I measured the wheel rims (not the tyres) with a tape-measure, dia was closer to 17 than the 16 advertised. (NOT 18, sorry)
I'll clean them up and have a look for the width and offset stamps at the weekend.
Have the same with another set of wheels I'm selling. Same problem, bought for a vectra and dont fit.

I have tried one on the front hub, and though the tyre did rub the shock, the wheel itself 'may' have cleared with out the tyre. But we're only talking a mm or two. As much as the tyre over hangs the wheel.

If I did that would that sort of setup be legal / safe. Must admit would look damn cool on the back.

Are these rims not from an E class W211 as well as an R230? If so they will have the larger bolt holes to suit the 211 14mm bolts. Will that be compatible with the C180 which has 12mm iirc.

Hope I'm wrong of course.

Bump::)

Decided will sell these now. Just popped into local tyre place with one of these wheels and told probably wont fit on my c-180 without extra bolts and spacers, and I just dont need the hassle.

As 'Baldguy' and seamster15 said bolts are way different. To fit new 17" wheels, bolts need to be shorter on the back (as the wheels thinner) and fatter.
I will also need spacers on the front cos even with skinnier tyres, will be damn close the the shock and still needs larger dia bolts. Not to mention smaller tyres.
So just cant be messing about.

They're now officially for sale, and I will either straight swap if anyone has a decent set of bog standard C-180 w203 wheels similar, (like pic in next post). Or will take a loss and sell for just a hundred ( £100) quid. Cant get better than that.

This picture is only one wheel of set of 4, 5 hole 255/45/17 tyres, stock MB wheels standard 17"

Couple of things.......first advert clearly states 17", photo of tyre shows 17", not much to get wrong there........secondly, in your advert you state that the wheels are 15" and then further on the're 14 tyres".

If I were you, I might give wheel replacement a miss from now on! :)

Your right mate, does me blooming head in.
The 15" (14" tyres) are a THIRD set I'm selling on ebay 4 hole and Vauxhall and not entirely relavent here.
It does say that, perhaps you missed it.

A big obvious one you did miss, (and I'm just about to edit) if you check out the links, is the picture above is for the 'NEW' wheel I bought in haste and one of the set I am now selling. They are 17's.

I would like a set of 16's to replace mine like the one below.
Sorry for the confusion! But as you can see, look very similar.

Guys, not sold these yet on ebay, so wondering whether c180 12 mm bolts with larger heads are ok / can be bought / legal, as suggested.

If the tyres say 14 then thats what they are. Are you measuring the wheels from edge to edge? If so then thats your mistake!!!!!!! Measure where the tyre sits. Then you'll get is right. On the other hand, does it not say on the inside of the wheel.

Ha Ha, yeah I'm a nonce. Too late now.
Would be confusing if they didnt have tyres on eh?
Bolt holes are 14 I guess, bigger then the holes in my hub anyway.

Had a couple of small bids now so fingers crossed.
