1) Can the grantee (me) put the number plate on the car of the nominee who's name the car is in?
I am on the insurance.

2) Can i take said car to my local DVLA and do it even though it is not my car?

3) What documents/infomation would i have to take with me? (to get it right first time.)

4) Can i just turn up to get this done? (Chelmsford, Essex.)

5) Would it matter that the Tax Disc is due to expire seven days later?

Thanks.

IN MY OPINION

1) YES, if the nominee name matches the v5

2) YES, take a letter of authorisation just in case, not usually a problem, but in later 90's they cause a small issue over it

3) V5, Insurance document, MOT if applicable, photocopy of the original tax disc but this is not essential, as it wont be done on spot, either you collect or they post it back. Just make sure V5 name, and insurance policy holder names are the same!

4) YES, but receipt of new paperwork will take few weeks, and the tax disc bit wont be done over the counter

5) This must be renewed at the time, as you are in the time period for renewal, so either 6 months or 12 months, which ever applies!

hope that helps
