In Tangier main square, people watching and sipping mint tea (sugar on the side - boy do they like it sweet!) a lot of old Mercs around HD together by string and tape!

In places like that, they never truly die. They get kept running one way or another

I remember being picked up in one in Casablanca while on a business trip to Morocco . The weather was hot as Hades but instead of air con vents in the twin 'eyeball sockets' on the dashboard there were two highly polished and varnished wooden balls !

Looked nice , but bloody hopeless of cooling the cabin down !

I doubt you will see any modern (post 2010 ?) E Class on the ranks in such countries in the future.
