Where do you place the Jack when Lifting the REAR of a w/s 211 AMG ? The front has a Jacking pad in the Centre fwd position on the Subframe which is fine.

On a Non Amg 211 i usually use the Diff and then place axle stands on the jacking pads on the Sill's.
But the AMG has a Diff cooler in the way so i cant do that.

Any Ideas??

I'm sure I use trolley Jack on the Axel close in to the wheel then place Axel stand on the jacking pad then them same for the opposite side. I also made up some ramps for raising the car without need to take the wheels off.

Cracking car by the way glad you have a v8 in the family again. Hope you get it sorted I'm sure you will. The effort and time you put in to your cars is a credit to you.
Good luck

Tom

Mines a saloon ofcourse not sure if same can be done with the estate.

Hey Tom, Thankyou for your kind words bud and reply :thumb:

I should get some ramps really, But on this occasion i'm taking all 4 wheels off to have a clean up underthere and do a few bit n bobs.

I always used to do one wheel at a time Gav.

Used the lower control arm at the inboard end, then an axle stand on the jacking point to hold it. I certainly wouldn't risk jacking it on the diff with all those aluminium fins n the heat sink. :)

Yes was just trying to cheat alittle as i wanted to do all 4 arches at the same time, Was thinking of Jacking on the Rear Subframe Mount points whilst putting a Axle stand on Jacking points, Probably the way togo.

It can be done but its a long laborious process. Its basically what Tom says, lift at the trailing arm knuckle and rest it on the jacking points.. I have blocks of wood cut specifically so that the jacking point can rest on the axle stand without damage - it a pity that garages don't take such care but instead say "Oohh it was like that when it came in Sir.." (as a big dent has appeared on the sill....) You can raise the car onto all 4 axle stands but not at the same time, it has to be a proces of 1,2,3,4 then you can work safely underneath or what ever..
