Which AMG to buy?

No MAF/MAS on the C32/SLK32 ;)

finally they got rid of them then!!!!

Did AMG go for a small badger named Brian that counts the air as it goes past and then tells the ECU?

Harsh considering that being "refused insurance" is pretty serious. Unless they have a jolly good reason they should quote you no-matter how expensive!

I'm 37 years old and drive an E320 estate. Due to the dodgy area I live in and the fact that I park on the street many insurance companies will not quote me. I had that problem even when driving an 2000 VW Bora, and as for when I had my Honda Civic 1.6 ESi......most companies wouldn't touch me with a barge pole, even though I was in my late 20's at the time.

No, don't be daft, that's like soooo last century. It's all high tech.

Brian sends the ECU a txt msg, with stuff like: "LO m8 Xtra joos pls init", and "wkd jus enuf m8 ta"

Brilliant Mr Dazzler!!!

must be showing my age at 29 as it took me a while to work out the code!!

Oh yes MAF's - how could I forget - had to replace the MAF on both of them at 50-60k miles
Sounds like its something very common, mine needed a new one at 62000 miles. Was done by the previous owner though so I didnt have to pay for it :D.

If you buy a W210 E55AMG (I did) make certain it has FMBSH and no missed services or intervals of over 2 years between services. That way you get the benefit of the Mobilio extended warranty which, the way MBUK seems to handle goodwill claims at present, should cover you for the nasty rust issues they have. Mine just went through the goodwill warranty process at seven years old and I got £1,000 of free bodywork repairs.

That aside, yes, they do incur garage bills but if you get a properly maintained example, then about £1,000 pa for service/repairs on around 10-12,000 miles pa (tho can be expensive on tyres).

Lovely engine - never gone wrong except a new MAF sensor at 101,000 miles.

try Vredestein Ultra Sessantas.

Mine have done about 10k miles now, and are still less than half worn at the back.

(tho can be expensive on tyres).
