Currently Merc' Less.
I know this has been done to death but I can't find a definitive answer.

Can't afford a STAR sadly.

Wanting one which can read and reset the majority of codes on:

S203
S210
S211

For bonus points could also be used on:

Volvo V40 (old style estate)
Audi A6
skoda fabia

Real life usability and information on various models would be great.

Thanks.
Tim

ICarsoft 980 will give in depth troubleshooting for the Mercedes and give generic engine fault codes for the others.
It will reset srs/eml/abs lights on the Mercedes and eml on the others.
Also graphs live data.

Stand alone reader, PC based or Tablet/smartphone ?

Generally you will be able to read general errors produced but to get into the individual module errors then you will need STAR.

I have used a wireless OBD2 reader like this :
Wireless OBD2

coupled with DashCommand & Torque Pro and they both read errors as well as showing you revs/intake temps, both have dashboards as well.

The iCarsoft will access all modules including eis, sams, gearbox etc. it even gives manufacturer part numbers firmware revisions etc.
clears all codes - even picked up that a puddle lamp had failed - I had changed it a couple of months earlier. It won't program though like star.

It will only do all modules if bought for that specific manufacturer, if you buy generic iCarsoft then it will only read generic ODB2 errors & possibly a couple of other modules.

That's why there are specific models for each manufacturer ;)

the OP wanted to read multiple manufacturers

As I said. The 980 is for Mercedes. It will also read all generic engine codes for the other vehicles.
