from your own experiences, which dealer has gone above and beyond normal discount levels on a new car, when no specific dealer contribution plan is in place.

I've never tried it, but I've heard that e-mailing dealers with you requirements can produce some good offers.

Try New Cars | Fantastic Deals | Finance Available

You pay all monies to the supplying dealer - if you don't fancy the broker route, then get a formal quoate and get a dealer local to you to match it. Looks like 13% discount is possible, dependent upon model. Watch delivery times too, you don't want to get stung with the extra VAT from Jan 1st !

Second CLK270's point about getting an internet broker based ( drivethedeal etc.) quote and then using that as a negotiating tool.

Worked for me when buying a Disco 3. Got the best quote I could find off the internet, told the salesman about it, he looked it up for himself and then matched it.

How did the test at Watford go?

Boss, surely you dont like any of the new Mercs - and your buying a new one!?! :D

I sent out a generic email to c80 dealers...took about an hour or so to get/type email addresses and then just got knackered...

they all replied/phoned back within 72 hours, but ended up going with an almost local dealer who offered me the best...

I say ended up going, but factory issue has meant it's a bit up in the air at the moment

Something similar to what I did when I bought my motorbike. Send an e-mail to lots of dealers, making sure all their addresses are in the "To" field (not the "bcc" field) so all the dealers know that you're e-mailing other dealers as well.

Managed to get £800 off my bike! :D

Try the ones North of the Border in Scotland always better value than the English counterparts :thumb:

There's certainly one in Aberdeen & Inverness and I guess a few North of Grangemouth, sure one of the Scottish guys will know for sure. But if my memory serves me right and its a while since I lived in Scotland I think they may all be part of the same franchise John Weir ? Used to buy mine from Glen Henderson in Ayr but they are no longer a dealer just an authorised workshop.

Anyone used Bernie at Burlingtons?

(It's not a joke)

Always advertises n the Sunday Times, I knew a guy that obtained a big discount using him.

Yup

There is a chap called Gary at John R Weir in Perth who is thoroughly nice to deal with and appears to work hard to get you the right deal..he's off til Monday though

Wow, that's quite an advert I just gave him!!
