Why use a phone in a car that has satnav? The car satnav screen is bigger and easier to read than a phone. Even my wife (
) has worked out how to use the car satnav - it really is not difficult!
I have been using satnav since the early 2000s when they first arrived and even the worst units get you to your destination.
Seems to me, people want to be able to read messages while driving!
None of my cars have built in satnav , nor do any other cars in the family .
I also drive a lot of work vehicles , few of which have built in nav .
I like the fact that I can take my phone wherever I go and use it for this - I have the TomTom , Navigon and Google apps , all of which have good functionality , and don't depend on discs which go out of date .
Another good thing is that I bought TomTom way back when I had my iPhone 3 , although I've had every iteration of iPhone since then and currently on the 7 , when I pass the old handset onto family members , despite rebuilding it , the TomTom app stays on the old one as well as transferring to the new one :-D
So there are now about 5 handsets with TomTom for only one purchase , and since the mapping comes over the air , all are up to date
I have charging cradles in each of my own cars , and these hold the phone securely in a convenient position whilst being able to glance down if using nav ; I mainly rely on voice prompts , but it works well for me .
I don't have , or want , one of these plus sized phones either .
