http://ebay.to/1ruC5aK I would seriously take a punt on this one mate has the pano, good miles and genuine Amg splits which retail secondhand for about 1 grand in this condition alone. Cheers

Thanks - not keen on dark blue for some reason... particularly with black leather...

The wheels are genuine but look pretty rough ... a refurb on these isn't cheap.

Nice Ts&Cs ...
Also, in order to totally comply with sale of goods act 1979, we hereby stipulate, any vehicle sold on this listing, is not fit for any purpose other than for spares or repair, as are all cars sold by us including this one, and are invoiced as such. This may sound hard, but it is the only way we can legally sell these cars without reserve, and also not fall foul of trading standards law, and be economically viable as a business.

Aren't they? Not a seller for me!

Yeah luckily I know a guy who refurbs splits for buttons, to be honest I would bid and if it turned out to be a ****ter then just walk away, at its current price it would break for twice that, always a gamble on the used car market

The best line I've read all day! :D

Let's never pretend a 5.0L V8 engine is anything other than feckless madness ... And all the better for it. Last two seater I bought was a Smart Brabus Roadster Coupé ... 698cc ...

I purchased a R129 SL320 today. Drove it, loved it, looked around it a bit.., kicked the tyres, etc etc. it's a 1999 with Panoramic roof in metallic obsidian black over mushroom leather.

Thanks to all who have posted on this thread. I will go and pick it up in a couple of weeks - previous owner is keeping it for me until then.

Happy happy!

Well done! Look forward to seeing some pics. in due course - sounds good :)

I've had a R129 320 for a short while and it was painfully slow, had it checked over and a new maf but that was it - I am not a speed demon but the weight if the car overwhelms the engine IMHO

Ian - why do you not like the V12 models?

Too heavy, too much to go wrong, expensive to service and not actually as good as the AMG V8. That's all :D

I'm thinking of revisiting this as a cheap drop top that the kids will fit in - would be minimum a 500 just a 600 caught my eye - values are going up! £45k for a silver arrow!,

No SA (I don't actually like them) is worth that money. A decent 500 can be had for under 10K. Nothing too wrong with a 600 if you go into it your eyes open. Or you can buy my 60 :D:D

I'm not sure of the name but it's a subtle flip paint and very nice. I viewed one which was in a bit of state whilst looking for mine and also saw another which was in ok condition at a show this summer. There was also an ultra low mileage one for sale at about £19,000 at the time.

They come with special edition sill covers, logo on the dash, panoramic roof, AMG non-split wheels but no heated seats as far as I know.

Chaps which special is this - I assume this is Mystic Blue ?
Mercedes-Benz SL Class SL500 Limited Edition 2dr Auto 5.0

That's a lovely colour combination. I would also assume it's designo mystic blue, but I think the car is too early to be a special edition - they were all 2000/2001 AFAIK (definitely post '99 facelift, which this car isn't). It doesn't appear to have heated seats and the wheels are just monoblocs, so seems quite strong money for an R plate.

It is strong money - £13k and I would be tempted, thing is I don't "need" one and was really disappointed with the SL320 R129 as I am a 8 / 12 cyl man I guess - but I have no drop top at present and with cash tight (kids cost money shock) it wont be a Grancabrio anytime soon. The cheap SL600 is too scary at £1000 a bank for coil packs and the head gasket reputation I will skip that. Any cheap SL60`s about ;o)

1. Agreed, that had me cogitating.

2. I'm guessing the premium asked is for the low mileage, although I really don't understand why people have such an obsession with low mileage examples of these cars. These are cars & engines best used, garage queens can be problematic.
