Agreed, very handy, not that rare but a bit pricey. Hanging bags are good too.
Original price is of course completely irrelevant but since I have a 1997 price list in front of me it was actually £97,450. Even the SL600 was 'only' £102,400

Vis-a-vis price, I suppose those are base prices.
I'm guessing you could add on a few K's without too much difficulty.

Yup UK list price, which is what they were quoting. Even with options you couldn't have got an SL60 up to £110k though - there were only three big ones (exclusive leather interior, ADS, and panoramic hardtop), which totalled up to less than £9k.

Yup an option. Mine doesn't have them. I'm not a fan, have them in my GS and never use them. Sometime MrsIanA2 leaves them on by mistake. I always turn them off.

Have you got a thing about heated seats.....
We've got heated seats in the C Class and even the Vito, but not the SL. I asked D Class about having them retro-fitted last year and was quoted £1500 using the proper M-B switches etc.

I like winter topless blasts just used to them I suppose - the black blue one is nice BUT for a private sale at £15k its too much (love the staggered wheels)

Don't all SL500/60's have staggered wheels? Or is it just that the two I've had were?

I don't need tempting Ian I need to work out a strategy from a cheap topless blaster to a polish every sunday and close an ISA car !! - that's not one step its several involving many platitudes to the Mrs - tell me about the wheels, originals lost / stolen ? I had those on my CLS55 and I like them but surely not std on a R129 ??
Incidentally that dark blue one implies it has a body kit
Hard to be 100% sure from those gloomy pics but it doesn't look like it has to me.

Thanks for keeping the thread going. I have moved on from choosing cars to working out subtle changes to what I've just bought.
So I have been looking at pictures of SL R129s ever since buying mine (but I've still not collected it - it's 170 miles away) and I like the staggered wheel look. 18" looks a bit better than the standard 8J 17" ... the rear arches fill out more. Maybe one day...
As per the exchange above about heated seats, mine has them and I'm looking forward to that warm feeling on cold days with the roof down.
Another half plan is to change the cloth roof from black to red... Anyone done this?
