Cold days and family commitments have encouraged me two clean the cars every
other weekend.
The Zafira barely gets a two bucket wash but being a light colour it can take it and still look great .. I start with:
-BH Snow Foam
-BH auto wheel cleaner
-Leave both to do there job then jet off, the wheels come up lovely only need agitating with a third bucket when heavily dirty.
-Mix a little Autoglym shampoo for the pressure washer bottle to keep the car lubricated while cleaning and treat I to a good sudsing (sudding?).
-With two buckets clean and rinse one side of the car then rinse with the pressure washer mix and repeat on the other side.
-Lately I have been favouring Autoglym Polar Seal to finish the Zafira it's quick and easy to use and in the long run works out cheaper than a trigger bottle for a big car.
-Dry and call the boys out to hoover and clean the inside with Halfords trim and fabric cleaner (both great products) while I move on to the Merc.
The Mercedes gets a bit more care as black paintwork is far less forgiving.
-BH Snow Foam
-BH Autowheel cleaner
-Third bucket for the wheels cleaned with micro fibre cloth and wheel brush rinsed with soapy stuff.
-Saturate, agitate and clean the wheel arches which get particularly grimy this time of year.
-Same pressure washer mix as above then thoroughly soaked with the soapy stuff.
-Clean each panel rinsing with pressure mix as I go.
-Thoroughly rinse and jet the whole car over using the last of the soapy stuff, I'm getting much better at encouraging sheeting to aid with drying.
-Dry each panel with two towels, one waffle (better for sucking up the water), one plush microfiber.
-Finish with Megs Ultimate detailer which I find works better with black paintwork than anything else I have tried.
Once a month it gets a larger clean which includes a chemical decontamination, clay mit, much more rinsing lol, Black hole Glaze and Fusso Coat for the body and wheels.
Generally the interior stays pretty clean as the kids use the family bus so a good hoover, Halfords trim cleaner, autoglym leather cleaner (have loads of the stuff) and cheap glass cleaner with a waffle drying cloth provides the best finish on the glass.
Historical photos I'm afraid as I start in the afternoon and the light is failing this time of year by the time I have put everything away, sorted the boys out and put dinner on and fixed a G&T.
