Why do we adore BHP

Bikes are much slower around corners and under braking, on the right road a bike wont stand a chance against even a semi decent car...

Looking forward to unleashing 421hp as soon as the weather improves.

Mind you I enjoyed 115hp in a Westfield 10 years ago, you don't need mega power.........but it's nice!!!!!!!

Modern sports bikes handle very well, it's more down to the rider as there is far less room for error on a bike, I would put money on my previous bike being quicker through corners than my old E55, obviously something like a Lotus/Evo etc is going to handle much better than a bike but I think you would be shocked at how well modern sports bikes can handle and brake, particularly with the advent of ABS and Traction Control on them, although it is a rather strange feeling being able to pin the throttle out of corners without thinking it is going to spit you off.

Not my experience, braking as acceleration is a function of weight! Most cars have got fatter whilst bikes are lighter with trick brakes. Bike tyres have come on leaps and bounds too.

I'm not a current biker but even when I had a bike in 1978 I remember leaving an E-type Jag for dead on the twisties but he made ground on me on the straights.

Other way around now a days....

Bikes cant brake, just remeber that, and they are SLOW around corners, very fast out but very slow around!!

Have you missed all the self righteousness I've had from a speeder in previous posts/threads or are you conveniently forgetting something?

Edit
I've learned my lessons of previous wrongs. I just hope someone else has, for all our good.

Read Bellow's post again...it's plain that what he did was not today...but in days gone by.

BHP is not everything, it is nice, but it soon gets boring. A well balanced car that you have to work can be far more rewarding.

I had a mapped 335i that was 370bhp and would do the spring to 60mph in 4.7 seconds, on a bad day. It was fast. It was also no where near as fun as the 320si I took out which only had 170bhp and took well over 8 seconds to do the same, but although it was the same car in many ways and down on power, it was the better car. You could go for a 2 hour drive and not once break the speed limit and still come back with a sense of reward.

BHP is something to talk about down the pub, nothing more.

@#46. Doesn't really matter unless it was a motor sport event or flying or some such thing. Averaging 97 mph is going very fast, cruising at min 125mph would be required, and that is fast on the open road with slow reacting or nutters about. In the right car and road conditions 125 mph is fine, but not when you are sharing the facilities with others not expecting people travelling so fast IMHO.

That's why I drive a diesel. No where to enjoy a decent V8 around here. Mind you, last summer I came down the M27 on my bike at 4am. It was nice and empty...

The car in question many of you i'm sure will never have heard of but it blitzed the top gear track knocking six seconds of the previous best lap time (yes you read right "Six" seconds ) the car in question was Ultima Gtr check it out.

You're right..what's a Ultima GTR?

You should see what happens when something 'quick' is overtaken by my 64hp smart!

Aberdeen to Edinburgh (130 miles) in 1hr 10mins, return trip 1hr 20mins (raining) - with 140hp.
Try that today.

I would politely suggest you were probably speeding, and really some to cover 130 miles in 1hr ten mins. 70mins, 130miles. An average speed I've worked out of 111mph. Please tell me you're kidding.
Would somewhere in the East Midlands to Glasgow in 2 1/2 hours be quick many years ago, before the A50 or M6 toll were built?

Ultima = dangerously quick car . I am told most drivers wouldnt be able to use the power its got and most likely start demolishing things . As for bikes not braking or handling someone is living in the BSA era -.I just wonder how fast a car has gone round TT course - think i will do a search.

Very, but I don't know anyone in the east midlands that rants on and on about my eating habits burdening the NHS or how I'm due a meeting with a tractor...
