Widebody SL R129

Yuk!

What a waste of what could have been quite a nice 129. (IMHO)

might even get cheaper :)

Japanese MOT regs means that the car has to be returned to stock to be tested - Which could be quite a big job that needs doing before September!
I have had a few heavily converted CRxs from Japan where it was easier to sell to an overseas bidder than to attempt recertification.

Whilst it has ruined a good SL it does have a few parts on it I suppose, but not worth the import and registration costs.

I quite like it apart from the colour and the grill badge, it's different! :)

i think u mayb albe to get a good deal from japland, im keeping my eye open for a few old school mercs.

Some one told me tho that they are Malaysian built not germany is this true?

Don't like it...kit looks cheap and nasty.

Huge rear Lambo type tyres? 345's??

Cheap car if you like that sort of thing I guess

That's a Koenig Specials !!

Agree, not to most people's taste but for a Koenig modified r129, that price is unreal !

Why the new Japanese MOT regs ?

cheers

Somehow I knew the wise man of all things widebody would know exactly what it was :D

Jap inspection regs regs are making a lot of cars available now. If a car was done "from the factory" and registered as such then it is a lot less of an issue so a lot of AMGs etc are still demanding good money.

I bought a heavily modified 1.5 SOHC CRX from Japan a few years ago that had basically been subjected to a full DOHC manual Mugen conversion. I paid less for the recently resprayed complete car than the kit would have cost me in the UK. The car cost less than £1000 + shipping, the turbo conversion was another £800 and it sold here for about £8000
My own fully HKS turbocharged, rollcaged and Mugen kitted car cost about 20% of its Uk value OTR in this country.

Heavily modded cars are good buys if they have no official homologation in Japan.
