im thinking of changing my clk for an e class and need to know if it will fit into my garage. does anyone know the width and the length of an e class?

which version 210 or 211, or let us know the year?

Depending on how fast you drive in, it will fit......

What version of E..? Oh and how big is the garage..?

Hello

Maybe a daft question but if you get it in can you get out...

Bit of a pain climbing through the sunroof..

 I might be missing something here so yes it will fit and on the other hand.... No it won't.

It will depend on the size of your garage, and I have no idea what that is:o

Good luck

John

If it doesn't fit you are welcome to do a swop with me as I don't have a garage. :-)

Which model E class ? w210 or w211 ?

How big is a standard size garage ? i bet my 'standard size' garage is different to your 'standard size' garage ...

As others have said , not only will it depend on whether you can physically get the car in , but can you get out ...

I can get my car into my garage , but i have to live in it as the doors won't open ....

the garage is standard sized, good comments though
Hi Tony,
No one is being awkward but without knowing the measurements of your 'standard' garage and of course how much you want the doors to open to gain access, no one can answer your question?

Oh and I'm of standard height and build ;) ;)

The "standard size garage" line. Oh how I chuckle when builders, estate agents, landlords say that. No such thing so far as I have expereinced. Standard size door perhaps, the rest varies vastly.

Tony of course knows the dimensions of his own garage and only needed our assistance for the dimensions of the E-Class to compare with his current vehicle.

Does it fit can come down to does it fit with nothing else at all in the garage with the passenger mirror a cm from the wall and the door not opening half way to the first rest even to get out. In that case I say it does as I have shoe horned cars into garages that small plenty of times.

I luckilly now have a single garage with what I would describe as sensible width and lenght.

Spare carpet and contact adhesive is your friend. That's right, line the walls with strips where required.

Agree totally that there's no such thing as a "standard garage". We were house-hunting 18 months ago and a garage was a specific requirement, so I went armed with a tape measure each time. My R129 isn't exactly huge, but you'd be surprised (or maybe not) how many garages it either wouldn't have fitted into ... or it would have gone in, but I'd have been unable to open the doors!

The house we bought in the end has a decent-sized double garage, but there's still only an inch or so clearance on the door mirrors each side on the way in. And getting out of the car on the "wall" side would be almost impossible.

I have a length of grey foam pipe lagging hanging vertically on the far wall and creep the car forward until that moves (just propped up in this pic)

Hi Tony. How did you get on with this? I am in the same boat. Thanks.

I read somewhere that builders now have to build garages to an increased size on new developments this encourages householders to use the garage for its intended purpose and eases up parking demand on roads.

Hi. On my part it's the confidence to be able to get out once parked. We can do the math using garage width and width dimensions of car model but one doesn't know how much of a gap is required at the drivers door to open to allow entry /exit. As a slim fella I am working on 300mm. So my garage is 2420mm max and the CLS body is 1873 or 2107 with mirrors out.
My issue now is with the ride height cos I have a sloped garage entrance and I don't want the front bumper to ground. Thanks.
