The windscreen and front side windows must allow 75% of available light to be transmitted (VOSA).
This means that the windscreen AND the tint film (if any) must comply - not just the tint film.
Installers MUST comply to this regulation too unless the vehicle is strictly for show use.
Driving a vehicle with overtinted windows is an offence and not worth it - especially as your vision will be impaired in darker conditions.
Hi all, just letting you know that 4/5 weeks ago i was pulled up on the A303 for having tinted windows .The police said that any darkness is allowed on any side and rear windows but the driver & passenger window can only be max 30% tint. At this point he went and got his light meter cleaned the window and told me i had 60% tint then went on to fine me,or not .But that's another story.BE WARNED...
