hi there the front windows ,rear heated window , and head rest drop stopped working. i have trawled other posts and checked fuses , relays and comfort unit under back seat. when you engage relays the front windows will work. also if the doors are open they will work from the switches .
i have heard 124 had doggy wiring looms ,can any one point me i a direction to look at . thanks .

Will the windows work when the engine is running…up and down?
I think? head rest drop needs the engine to be running and you may need to repeat press the drop switch on the dash?
Back window could be N10 relay fault. See Google Let me google that for you

Others may know more.

hi dec . no the windows not go up /down with engine running.
thanks for the google.

Open the comfort unit, with ignition on, operate the front window relay points manually with a matchstick; if you have 4 electric windows then you will have 8 relays inside the comfort unit, 4 to bring the windows up and 4 to bring the windows down.

All my windows stopped working the other day, along with the sun roof and wipers. The windows would still open if door open. The fault was a bad contact at the fuse. This is quite a common fault on the W124, and is caused by corrosion between the brass contact and aluminum fuses.

On the W124 its often fuse connection clips/fuse end corrosion film as has been said. Take out each fuse give both ends and its clips a careful clean up. Old softened Nylon pan scourers[ non detergent type] found in the kitchen are good for this -- non conducting material then reseat. If that doesn't work then try resoldering the internal contacts on the comfort relay in the main box behind the fuses--- supplies the convenience unit.

Any fuses in particular? I have replaced the comfort relay and now have the same window issue. Looking in the fusebox, seems there has been some major event in that some of the plastic around the brass fuse seats have melted! Need to build those up.

Thanks Grober...just ordered a replacement fusebox and fuses so hope will cure the problem.
