I miss the 'Curry Mile'. Wilmslow is a lovely place. Denton was/is getting worse. We're sooooo glad we got out. Love it here in the countryside.

Anyhow. Love the car Mucca. :thumb:

Cheers bud .
Just gotta lighten my fronts now !!

Why do these threads always turn into law suits, don't see the same happening when people change their exhausts to decat systems. I'm sure the OP is aware of law implications, visibility dangers etc etc.

I think we're old enough to make our own decisions on here.

Lets be sensible. If we did EVERTHING as per the book, none of us would:
Exceed any speed limit, anywhere, anytime.
Modify our cars in ANY way
Use our phones AT ALL whether it be bluetoothed or otherwise
Wear Sunglasses whilst driving
Smoke whilst Driving
Eat/Drink whilst driving ( non alcoholic of course)
Take our eyes off the road while we shout at kids in the back
Wear dark Visors on Motorbikes
Small Reg Plates
The list goes on and on.....
Going back to my windows, I can see perfectly well during the day, and if at night it was bouncing down, or foggy or whatever, I would drop the windows to allow me to see. I for one , don't want a 17 year old kid in a Corsa with dicky headlights, stoving into the side of my 507.

my post was merely to inform steve that legally he was up the creek no tint is allowed to the front windows at all as manufacturer tint is the limit
the window tinter wld have known this but either chose to ignore or fail to make aware
winding down windows wld not be a defense in the event of a collision
i have no hang up with anyone tinting their front windows as long as aware of the safety aspect
with regard to decat etc this isnt a safety compromise so not really a good comparison of modding it more enviromental

I appreciate your concern gasman, but there are thousands of cars out there, with illegal front tints. If it was commonly known , and lots of cases where insurance claims had been refused, I think it would have been well publicised to the point where the companies that offer the service would make you sign a disclaimer. I know it still does make it right, but equally, common sense must prevail. But hey .....if a copper pulls me and puts his light meter on mine, then , fair play, I may have to re-think....
I suppose you would have the same worry if for example, you had prescription glasses for driving, and one day you left them at home and had an accident ??

Sorry if it seemed that way, but my comment wasn't meant to be aimed directly at yourself.

I get the part of being informative and appreciate the people who go out of their way to provide legal / safety advice, but by the looks of things the thread has turned from sharing an update on the OP's car to a legal advice lecture.

In your eyes the decat may be of lower relevance, but it still doesn't mean that it is legal/safe/environmentally/mot friendly.

My suggestion is to keep it short and sweet whilst appreciating that the OP has taken time to upload the image of his car for our interest :)

Look , there is no need for heated jabs at each other. I appreciate your support Litcan, and appreciate the advice from Gasman.
I know of cases with bikes where after a collision, there was the cry ` he had a dark visor on`....or `that Full Akrapovic system was not declared to his insurers`....
We all choose to do different things and stand by them.

Re the photo of my E55 in Post#7. I realised since day one, 2.5years ago. that the tint on the front side windows was too dark to be legal. I have promised myself to remove them or get a much lighter (legal) tint but have never got around to it, or been stopped or cautioned over them. Laziness I suppose.

Last night I pulled into a local Esso garage for fuel and a police patrol car pulled in on the pump opposite me. He must have been a car enthusiast as he came over and wanted to talk about the car. Not a mention of the tints, until I was leaving , then with a smile he said "I'd remove the front tints if I were you, some of us will give you a ticket for that".;)

And of course you will............when you get round to it........

I have factory fitted tints all round and there are occasions at night when I have to be very wary of sharp right or left hand turns where there is no street lighting.

Didn't realise this...

Non-instrumented Checks

An officer with no Tintman can make a subjective assessment by sitting in the driver’s seat with the doors closed. If the tints are very dark and restrict visibility, they will be considered dangerous and the officer will issue an immediate prohibition (as <30% VLT above). If the level of visibility is not obviously dangerous then the driver will be advised that the legal requirements may have been breached, thus putting the onus on the owner to investigate further.

Losing the will to live now.......

I,m just gonna sit at home in front of the telly and wrap myself in cotton wool until I slowly pass to the other side......

looks good, wouldn't worry

I like it. Think it suits the car. Is that a oem rear spoiler? It looks slightly bigger.

Oem spoiler , might just look big as it contrasts the silver so much .
Cheers for the compliments & non legals !!
