Winter wheels on a 2010 e class coupe

Hi

I purchased a eclass coupe this week , I currently have the standard 18inch wheels and tyres i.e 255/35/18 and 235/40/18

I want to place winter tyres on them, can i put alternative sizes on them or would they have to be the same size as the summer tyres on at the moment?

Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated

I asked the same question at my local dealership, they said to put the same size winter tyres on if using the same rims.

I purchased a set of alloys with winter tyres fitted, told the Wife this Christmas will now be very frugal
