CL 600
My CL has had a fault in the past with the wiring loom as it goes though the rubber gator (from door to main body) with wirer's breaking (bad wire choice not flexible enough or could it be penny pinching (no never with MB:crazy:)) I have fixed it my self putting in more flexible wire. But the cloth type insulating tape MB used I could not find any were, also the plastic sheathing that goes over the top of the insulated wirer's. Any ideas?

Use heat shrink sleeving over the soldered joins, do not make the joins in the same place, stagger them then you do not end up with a big lump.

You can bind them after with lacing thread

Which wiring is at fault. Some of these wiring looms are sold individually.

Main positive, door closing sensor, and wire to light in door also intermittent faults with the central locking (vacuum tube buggered as well)

There is a thread on the owner's club forum which mentions this. Apparently it's such a common fault with the CL that MB are developing a repair part.

If you need the fabric tape I can get it for you for around a tenner.

This Tape was on Ebay a few weeks ago.....and seller states they have a good supply..........perhaps it may be worth contacting them (no connection to me)

thats a very common problem on the CL due to the hinge mechanism and how overly complicated it is...
