I am sat here with a certain amount of indecision. I hate that when I see a psot from a forum member, especially when it involves a marque other than MB.

Now I have had MB for 26 years. Nothing else.

I am watching a 2004 E55 from a private seller who seems sound. I would buy sight unseen. 52k and £18k

But

I already have a E270 whcih "looks like" the E55. really it does. Same colour, pano roof. 19" wheels etc. Just thought I was looking for a large woofley engine.

And then I stumble across a BMW supplied 645ci, wit Pano roof, 20000 miles and same sort of money.

PLEASE, somebody talk me out of the BMW as I like the sound of a good looking car supplied by main dealer (balance of 5 year servicing and 1 yr warranty)

Never been so indecisive  Feels like a "Donza" psot and therefore makes me feel worse

Indecision. I hate it.

Let me have it..................................Tell me about an E55 .........

GINA - I see you are online and you have taste -tell me the worst

Don't, the BMW 6 series is possibly the ugliest car that BMW ever made.

The 645i is a completely different car to an E55. Much much less powerful, silly pillarless doors but will a whopping big B post.

Its closest MB compeditor is a CL500 (215 and a cut above) or a CLK500 (209 and a notch below).

So, are you after a coupe that handles like a saloon with none of the practicality, or a good honest saloon. Get the E55. If your BMW intent, why not look at 545i's, M5's etc.

They don't even compare, M6 (or M5) or E55 maybe.....If you're seriously considering the 645i then an E500 would be better. E55K is a different league altogether.

No really, tell me how you see it

I like the 6's looks so try again

6 series is a standardish car - nothing special. See them everyday. E55 says something different, as others have said - a completely different league and isn't standard.

I've driven the 645 but not the E55.

What advantage does a 6 series coupe have over a 5 series or even a well specc'd 3 series coupe/saloon?

If you like it for some reason then why not go, they're going cheap in this climate.

However If I were you I'd chop the E270cdi in, and use the px of that + what you'd spend on a 645i to plump for a E55 or a early E63. Just my 2p.

If you really can't make your mind up, give me ya dosh and i'll make that all important decision for you ;) :D

and yo would propose what

Now, if it was a 645i Cab, that would make it an even harder decision. I have a bit of a soft spot for a 6 series coupe. But comparing to an E Class AMG is a bit like comparing apples with pears.

Take the BMW. what colour and what alloy wheels does it have?

Last couple of posts interesting.

Peter because i know how much you have been looking for a 55

tromppote because you are on the money. This is with 19" M6 alloys and the top end sat nav and glass roof.

e55 has 19" and glass roof and command

Closer than some may think,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Scratch the itch ! Buy the BMW get it out of your system. Then in a year realise you wanted the E55 all along and get one.

My way is more expensive but it will get the BMW thing done once and for all. It did for me ! All in my honest opinion, of course. :D

How about £18k in Autotrader:-

and you wont have to pay a huge VED either.;)
