My W202 was booked in for an ATF change, and to release a seized bolt on the gearbox pan..both problems fixed easily, and efficiently..... Olly also showed me a CLK with a broken crank shaft pulley, and how to spot one. Which looked just like mine, we noticed....... He managed not only to get the correct replacement part delivered but fitted, all in time for me to get away on time.

Many thanks to both of you. I’ll be back.....

How about a northern branch?

Nice to meet you will and it was a pleasure.

Note to the rest of you with 112 and 113 engines. Check your crank pully for the rubber portion sticking out. It can cause horendus damage if left.

Maybe example pictures of good and bad would be worthwhile to let people see what they are looking for ?

Yes. The damper is is in two sections. When it fails completely the outer part of the pully goes into the front cover and sump and can machine a nice little hole where oil will escape at a rapid rate.

I try to remember to take a glance mine every time I open the bonnet - don't always remember, but it only needs a quick glance, so a worthwhile habit it you can get into it (I'm getting there).

Olly spotted this on my W208 CLK when I took it in for a MAF problem so I got two problems solved in one afternoon (and probably a very lucky escape as well.) :thumb:

Thanks guys
