A customer bought two front wheel bearing kits last month and had them fitted at a garage in London (a tyre and exhaust dealer)
Car is an 02 E Class.
Message received from customer last week to state he drove 300 miles and the bearings are faulty.
Returned bearings and they are the same as sold...
Hi Guys

Have had the car for around 6 months and since purchace there was a slight shudder under braking but nothing serious.
Have just done a road trip UK-Berlin-UK and it has got worse. Def more...
I have just noticed a problem my offside front wheel. When under load [ie turning left at any reasonable speed] the level of noise increases, like a loud tyre roar.
The car tracks straight and behaves in all other respects [no excessive or uneven tyre wear], and there are no other obvious...
Hi Gents, my W124 E220 lost all power at 30mph and I was lucky enough to be near a lay-by.
God bless the RAC, they were there in 10 mins, the guy had a look, spun the engine with the oil cap off and said Oh Dear, your cam ain't turning.
Anyhow the guy towed me home and out came the socket set...

Noticed a slight whine\drone from the rear and decided to get a new bearing and fit it today.
I am on afternoons this week and had plenty of time this morning to get it done. With the hub removed I nipped to the local friendly garage to get the old pressed out and the new pressed in. Only to...
While fitting new brakes at the weekend, I found a problem with one of the front wheel bearings.
I had jacked up the car, and felt the wheels prior to the MOT, and found them all OK. The car passed its MOT that morning just before I began to replace the brakes.
Even with the wheel off, and...
I was getting a "bang" noise from the centre/rear of my car in transition of gears. It then evolved into a very severe also "banging" sound and it would also shove the car forward, felt like getting hit in the back by another vehicle.
So i took the car to a trusted indy, and he told me that...
Hi,
I've read some old posts about adjusting front wheel bearings. The general consensus is to tighten the clamp until the wheel binds, then loosen it slightly so the wheel is free to rotate. But others say this job is too easy to get wrong and run the risk over heating the bearings, causing...
Hi, just put car into my local indy for a noise from turbo area. he has now confirmed the forward alternator bearing is worn and rattling. This one is water cooled and consequently very £££! (£800 ish). Tried GSF, no good. A local bearing company said they could replace bearing in same day...
Hi All,
Just doing a local trip on friday night and the front N/S wheel bearing suddenly decided to shuffle of its mortal coil! I was not aware of any groaning etc. from the bearing previously, it just decided it had had enough!

HI Gang,
After the recent, very succesful, Essex GTG the technician at MB suggests I get the front wheel bearings replaced (at least one side needs doing)
Is this an easy DIY job or am I best to book it in somewhere.. Anyone know if this is an expensive repair or if I was to tackle it myself...

Has anyone ever replaced the center bearing (number 89 in Pic.) I am wondering if it is a simple or difficult task and if it is possible to replace the part without disconnecting the propshaft at either end i.e. gearbox and differential my car is C180 Automatic, petrol December 1994. Any advice...

I've got a nasty noise coming from the front of the engine which at worst is a pulsing screeching and at best is a pulsing (light) grinding. Sounds like a pulley bearing failing. Took it to the garage and they reckon probably idle pulley bearing but not sure.
Contenders I guess are alternator...
