Hi all, i have a W124 E280 1994 model, and it sounds like my big ends are on their way out. Has anyone changed them with the motor still in place? I really dont want to hall the engine out.
When on the move there is a slight howling noise. It sounds like a wheel bearing which i doubt because when stepping on and off the gas it changes tone slightley. The 5 speed auto box has been recently rebuilt. So i am suspecting the diff. Is this noise normal. It isnt overly intrusive but is...
Evening all
I'm planning to change the prop centre bearing on my w210 e220 cdi and I'm wondering if it's easier to remove the whole assembly from the car or just unbolt the rear diff bolts and the bearing carrier and leave the front half of the shaft in place, would this be possible?

There was a little play in both the front wheels of my W210 so I've taken up the slack in the nut literally with my fingers (I don't want to overload the bearing) and the wheels feel much better but still rotating freely and with no tight spots.
What's the correct procedure for these...
My W210 has developed a slight rumbling noise that is only noticeable at slow speeds (around 5 - 15mph). Its accompanied by some slight vibration that can be felt through the brake pedal but its not related to brake use, in other words it can be felt if I rest my foot on the pedal (without...

Well after leaving a meeting 1 hour late on Thursday, I finally gelled with the W211. It made up time rather well.
However, I think I have broken it! Their is a moan coming from the front left wheel (as opposed to the front left passenger seat). It gets noticeable at 65 and worse...
Car started making a horrible scraping noise a few weeks ago and traced it to the front drivers side wheel
The disc was really hot that side, so I thought must be brakes. Removed the caliper and it was pretty much seized, so I replaced it with a new one about 10 days ago
Yesterday it started...
I had today 4 pre used tyres fitted today from a reputable tyre shop. (225 45 17) fronts are continental sport contact 2 tyres with 5/6mm tread and rears are federal super steel. When driving back from the shop i noticed a rumble from the front which turned into a whine similar to a wheel...
In late February my 2006 320 CDI ML was due a B service at 41000 miles.
I spoke to the main dealer, and Ollie at PCS, to get quotes for the work. There was some extra items needed not included in the service. I decided to have the service carried out at MB, gearbox service and the air and...
Hiya,
Anyone got access to a MB parts catalogue?
Noticed a lot of play in my osf wheel last night, so it's going in to my local indy Friday - does the 43 have a different part to standard 202s?
Cheers :thumb:
 blimie a wheel bearing needs to be replaced on my car, only got it a week ago. has anyone done this job themselfs ? its on the rear drivers side. ive found out the bearing is only about £20 but its the fitting of it that costs .

The front drivers wheel bearing on the 211 has some movement . I was gonna order a new part , and saw that the bearing in the picture was a tapered bearing , is the correct type , and if so should i try trghtening it before changing it .
My W124 had it's MOT today...........and passed!:bannana:
It only had one advisory: excessive play in rear o/s wheel bearing.
What sort of job is it to tighten this up, or does it need replacing?
Thanks!
Just had some tires changed today and the front left wheel as a teeny wobbly feeling. We tried to take out the bearing cap/ hub to look at it but no luck, it didn't move. Before taking the hammer and bash it to move it out of the way, is there an easiest way to do it?
Cheers.
