Wifey's W202 has had a squeak for about a month or so. It's coming from the front of the engine but would disappear as she drove off. So it's only there when stationary. I did give a squirt of oil to the back of all the pulleys a couple of weeks ago but the squeak...
Hi,
After reading the WIS I am highly confused about selection of crankshaft bearings with a slightly worn crankshaft.
As it is the procedure for the diesel and petrol is different. To top it all the repair sizes of crankshaft for 611 do not have matching bearing sizes to maintain oil...
So I called up Mercedes of Coventry and descirbed the whistling, whirring sound coming from my engine to them. I was told it was probably the release bearing when the clutch is engaged, and that altogether it'd cost £400 + VAT to look at it and fix it!!!

Any suggestions (Jimmy ;) )for a price for a front wheel bearing kit please for a '96 202.
Or is it best simply straight from the local $tealers perhaps

Having just entered my details on the how many miles / breakdowns yesterday, I suppose it was inevitable that my pride and joy would suffer today.
Last night, I heard a slight high pitched rubbing noise coming from the front passenger side wheel (a sort of insistent eee -eee -eee noise) and...
I know Sean F started a thread on diagnosing wheel bearing/diff noises but I did not want to hi-jack it.
On returning from a family wedding on Sunday (160 miles form home) I noticed a noise from the rear end of the car, which sounded like the rear offside wheel. With windows open the noise...
My W202 C240 (55k miles, 97R) is making humming noises at the rear from about 30mph. The noise gets overwhelmed by wind noise by about 70mph. The noises are not that loud and are only audible when the stereo is off. George Fraser's mechanic thinks it's a wheel bearing but not sure which side...
