do i need to change them?
I'm going to bite the bullet and replace the cylinder head gasket on my M104. When I asked Inchcape to quote me for the parts they have also quoted £60.60 for the valve seals.
Obviously if they are a common failing it makes a degree of sense to do them when the...
Hi all, I've been offered a dead 1992 w140 300sel for parts.
Now I'm told that it has the m104.990 engine, this was the weird one that had the large air filter box like the early mechanical injection cars, but was infact efi underneath.
My question is, dose anyone know if this engine has an...
I have the e220 cabrio but it lacks powers so i changing it to a m104 320. i have considered several other options but i think this would be the best.

Oh no :( The poor old girl is having some troubles!
96 S280 with the M104 engine - 130k miles, last serviced with new plugs and oil about 12k miles ago looking at the invoices.
Since buying her 10k miles ago she has had a very occasional stutter on warm idle - a single miss/burp and then...
I have been told by a MB Dealership that Mercedes-Benz DO NOT recommend an Engine Flush of the cooling system for the M104 in a 124.
Has anybody else heard this, or confirm this advice..........?
Guys my estate is running rough when cold and also is hard to start. How does the cold start enrichment work?
When it's cold I have to let the car warm up otherwise it will cough and splutter before I can drive.
I have set the idle co level, changed plugs, lead, caps etc and cannot see any...
I'm thinking of doing an engine swap and though I would look for some advice on here.
My current car is a W210 E280 M104.94 straight six engine. The body work is pretty shoddy but the engine and gearbox are pretty good with relatively low mileage.
So..... My thoughts are to try and pick...

A question since I don't really know the M104 320 engine:
There's a ticking from the top end. It rises and falls in frequency with the engine revs. Present both hot and cold. Follows the engine revs to about 2000rpm at which point it seems to disappear.
Any ideas? Do these have...
