Hello, all... Just bought a 2005 W211, E280 CDI. Car has the annoying SBC buzz, when turn engine on and every 4/6 brakes.... I understand this is a common issue with SBC with lots of info in the archive. I asked the MB dealer who serviced the car and they said, they would charge me for a...
Dear All
I wonder if anyone has recently been through negotiating price on a replacement SBC unit after having the 'Service Brake - Visit Workshop' message/issue? I had a failed software update and am visiting MB for next steps today. Is MB currently doing any FOC or offering goodwill...
The dread "visit workshop" brake message popped up on Friday. At least it is better than the red "You are about to crash & die" offering.
After near enough 11 years SBC pump has probably reached end of life. :(
Number of operations has been extended once already and I understand that is...
Hi, im hopefully picking up a w211 53 plate tomorrow with 79k on the clock.

I saw someone in the daily mail the other day in trouble for drinking a slushie at the lights and looked up whether having the handbrake on would have prevented it being an offence.
Don't know why but I always thought having the handbrake on at lights allowed you to get away with due care...
My mate has just crashed his jag and fancies a Mercedes.
He asked me which cars suffer from the problems of SBC life which features often in this section.
I know the W211 suffers from this.
Another friend with an E270 is holding his breath.
Can anyone advise which cars are affected with this...
Hi MB lovers,
I live in Dubai with a MB 600SL and love it. MY2005
Had ECU issues, now fixed.
Now have Service Brake! on the instrument cluster. Did some research and its the SBC pump failure or Pressure Reservoir or both, I believe its an integrated part anyways.
I read about the 10...

Anyone seen this before?
Interesting as it's not on their UK site that I can see
KAP Diagnostics
I don't want a debate on whether they should be repaired or not, been done in many threads :thumb:
Hi
W211 up to late 2006 I understand are notorious for SBC pump failure.
Would inspection with code reader or star diagnostic be able to predict the failure in advance? Is it a matter of the count of the number of operations being stored and when maximum is reached pump stopping? If so can...
Hello all,
Recently, my newly bought 2003 e320 gave me the 'service break. Visit workshop!' fault in white.
So I took it to the dealer for service. The fault code was c249f. With the description saying 'check operating time...'. And that is without any noticeable change in breaking power...
Hi
Is there any way of telling how old my SBC unit is or if has been changed?
Mine looks nice and shiny and the guy I bought it from said it had been changed but I have nothing else to go on.
Thanks
My friends dash warning has come on are these pumps still genuine only? Is it worth getting it in to merc? This friend is so tight he wont even change his oil before 20k and uses it for private hire work!!

Hi, I've just bought an SL an now checking for areas to check / monitor, and I've read about potential issues with the SBC.
I understand that after a certain amount of use, there will be an error message showing, but is there anyway of checking when this might be or how much the SBC has...
