10.25 screen.

The yanks and us often have different priorities, I’m also aware that some units don’t work with UK 3 or 4g, just looking for info before I jump aboard

Thanks for the links

Other way around for data, we get better results than the yanks where they only get 3G, we get 4G as well. Mine has a Three data SIM in it and I get 4G where available.

This solution looks pretty cool. The factory screen on the w204 is pretty dated now and is one of the things that irritates me so I’m up for giving this a try. Might help rekindle the love.
If anyone wants to help/put one in Boris for me I’d happily exchange beer tokens.
I’ll break something if it tried myself, 100% lol

Hi,
I want to put a mercedes logo for the boot load part, but somehow I couldn't. Is there anyone who can help me with this issue?

In which directory should I put the bootanimation.zip file?

Hi guys, sorry for resurrecting an old thread but thought I’d message here rather than create a new thread.
Is there anyone down south (Buckinghamshire) who can fit one of these Android units? I’ve got one arriving in a week and wouldn’t want to attempt it myself! Happy to pay:)

I have the same screen in 12 inch and 1920 x 720 resolution.

All you need to do is create a bootanimation.zip and splash.img files and put them on a FAT32 formatted thumb drive less than 32 GB in size.

Create a folder called OEM on the thumb drive and put both files in there.

Then insert the thumb drive into one of the USB ports from the display.

After a few seconds a message will be displayed "Boot animation modified".

Removed the thumb drive and restart the display.

You can go to the "profile import" menu option and select "restart".

Sample Mercedes boot animation for 1920 x 720 screen is attached.

I just installed a 10.25" unit in my W204, took me a bit of fiddling to get it working the way I wanted but happy now. I did something similar in my non-Merc previous to this and I have to say that was more fully featured, but that's mainly because this screen is trying to satisfy access to both my original Audio20 as well as Android. So, only gripe is I while I can control some features using the steering wheel and other buttons, I can't override that or tweak it. Otherwise, happy to have Waze, reverse camera and bigger screen. Looking to get a DAB usb add on and possibly OBD2 add on.

Hi - just came across this thread. I've just completed my install on my E-Class coupe last week. I've got a 12.5 inch screen. I'm looking for some boot animations for the 12.5 inch screen with 1920*720 resolution. Any links would be much appreciated.

I want one.

What's a good one to get for a C63 W204, 2011 NTG4.5??
I bought mine from iceboxautos - they sell on eBay as well as their own site. Also - I've come across another site VeeHive - which seem to do similar stuff. If you're doing the install yourself - there are plenty of videos on YouTube and also might be helpful to join the Android Automotive Discord channel.

In two minds about getting one of these. My s212 is one of the late ones that with a firmware update will be able to enable native carplay, but I think that will be quite clunky with the wheel input. Native android certainly feels like it would be a lot more functional and easy to use, just not sure which way to go.

morning ;)

the car is a W212 with NTG4

as for dongles and stuff i'd like to avoid them.

apple car play would be nice but with a unit like this i wouldn't see the use of it. i was hoping that the actual unit is able to connect to google play and download whatever app i need from there.

the idea is to leave the phone out of my range completely :) although still not clear how hands free phone connection will be? via NTG4 or via android screen?
Hi I have recently bought the new version from CKMcardesigns.com & other than being a complete headache to position the cables in my W204 2010 pre-facelift (I removed the climate controls to position whilst refitting ) its really good. I use iPhone 11 pro & carplay is built in through an app called ZLINK, you bluetooth connect your phone then everytime you start the car it auto connect & goes into carplay everytime. You can fit a sim card in the side which is needed to use the NAVI app as it just say offline if you dont but thats totally pointless as your phone is connected & google maps works really well through carplay anyway.

So to be clear…

Android Auto & Apple CarPlay are extensions of your phones own screen onto the car’s infotainment system.

When using either the aim is to control your phone using the screen and reduce actual interactions with you phone to an absolute minimum.

The apps you are able to use come directly from your phone and are specifically the apps you need to use while driving. Maps, music, and messages So no games, no social media etc. And no keyboards, just voice recognition. All to keep you more focused on the road.

I have tried multiple boot animations now & none of them appear work, I either get a no logo file message or it just doesn't do anything.

I'm considering doing this in my W212 NTG4.5.
Can anyone recommend a supplier that offers a good level of support?
Thanks
