Andris Piebalgs, the EU's energy commissioner, has called for a blanket 100kph (62mph) speed limit throughout Europe.

Same story here.. Times

Oh and a common European highway code... That'll work then.

Time to get the horse and cart out methinks.

If they must dictate low speed limits and mandatory solar panels then I will be disappointed, of course.
But we must unite and fight together to oppose the banning of those lovely revealing tops worn by busty German beer waitresses. This is bureaucracy gone mad!! There are far more important things in life than getting from A to B at a decent lick, lads. Let's focus our complaints on the vital issues here. :D

EDIT: Clearly when writing this I misunderstood the bit about solar radiation. But I manintain that if it comes down to choosing between fighting a campaign for the right to leave my shirt off on a sunny day or one that lets waitresses serve me beer in a comely way, I'm for the latter.

It wouldn't work out so bad if that meant we could just drive everywhere at 100kph in Europe!
