2006 c class 220 cdi avantgarde , how to remove and refit power socket [cigar lighter ] HELP PLEASE

Almost certainly the same as my clk. open the ash tray. Pull up on the leading edge of the centre console trim ( the bit with the window switches in). It will be tight but it will come. You will see how the complete ashtray is held in with two clips. Release and pull out complete unit. You will then see how to release the lighter/socket.
