124 Infa red door handle sensor (idiot dealers)

Can you suggest any suitable alarms?
I am assuming you have the standard Mercedes IR remote locking already and its working correctly with a full MB key set =2+ remote keys and 1+ manual spare.
If this is the case then all you need is a fairly standard alarm with a standard trigger input-you just tie this into remote locking pump circuit. You also want to look for a couple of immobiliser relay circuits to disable 2 of the standard MB circuits e.g. fuel pump and ECU. A couple of utrasonics for the interior are a good idea also. Some alarms have these facilities built in-some require extra slave units for this,so watch for additional costs to the alarm itself. Any cat 1 alarm should be fine, its probably more important to get a good diligent installer who won't butcher your wiring doing the install.
If your remote locking IR system is non operational/non existant then it may be cheaper to buy an alarm with remote activation and new fobs. this is then tied into the manual locking electrics to drive it instead of the other way round. this might help http://www.mercedesshop.com/Wikka/W124Keyless
PS I DON'T APPROVE OF SCOTCH LOC CONNECTORS

Do these cars have a K38 relay which locks the starter out?

Not to my knowledge. The after marker alarms fitted to these early cars had to cut into some existing MB circuits to immobilise the car

philiggy

Does your system just need to be synchronised again as per the handbook ?

I've tried that but it didn't work, I've been told that late model cars need a different technique:crazy:

Might be worth a trip down to your local MB dealer to see if they can synchronise your key/s. If you wave the prospect of future servicing of your newly acquired MB past their service desk they might just oblige.;)

Imo Harrogate Mercedes are absolutely useless, I will never take my car back to them.

York I have only used for my vans but they have always been very good....

They are both part of the same group though I think - Leeds is part of Pendragon group though and seperate if you wanted to try a different one.

I have been to busy to get back to this post,,I will look shortly to see what I can offer in the way of info
