I took my car to Ian for a good service.

Where to start, I am so happy with all the work Ian's done and the price was a very fair one. He did so much on the car the list is to long to put here, anyway needless to say the car running as new (simply that good) and as quiet as a church mouse. I dropped it off with him and he give me his car to use while he did the work and then drove my car back to Barrow for me when he was done.

He is also doing a engine strip out and rebuild on my Shogun which I will report back on when I get the car back.

Really really happy and I now have a new man for the cars, many locals have asked why I'm taking my cars to Preston (3hrs round trip) simply Ian does not cut corners and I trust him.

Take my word on it if your cars out of warranty take it to Ian, you will save a packet and have a first class job much better then a 19 year old doing it at merc and parting with a few hundred quid.

Ash I am humbled by this post. All I try to achieve is a good job for a fair price. I take a certain satisfaction on doing a Merc and I am loath to let one out my door till I am happy with it. Let me say now that up until doing your car I had little faith in myself, to produce the standard I strive for. Your 210 was mentally challenging. But using the grey matter when and where needed helped. PLUS the useful info found on this very site. Your Shogun  is stretching the grey matter even more as a certain Misubishi establishment have butchered the engine and lost parts. Have faith, IT WILL be as good as new and publically I will extend a 12 month warranty on my repairs. (Sods law now, I am going to screw up  )

update

The head gaskets, went on our 1988 230te last week (180k miles). It went up to Ian last week and i picked it up yesterday. It drove lovely going home down the M6 again I will give Ian a big thumbs up.

The dogs are happy again as they missed going to the beach this last week (dogs, beach and 210 do not mix).

For those wondering the cost was circa £600 with a full service on top of it.

P.S Ian was looking for a e430 again last night

= bloody good value (I would say cheap but the works not done on the cheap so not the right word if you know what i mean).

Ian, when will you be doing a tour of the country as I need a few jobs doing on my car, but for me to visit will entail a 504 mile round trip:( ...Can't you move to Surrey mate?

Ashley, quick. Another southern person trying to lure Ian away to the bright lights!!

Ian - don't do it mate. They don't like roll-ups and insist on carpets being cleaned....

But no whippets! Lack of black pudding! And I understand that southerners have indoor toilets? How quaint!

Steve Bah Gum!

P.S. Fully endorse everything Ashley said, and more. A true professional

Not a bad idea. Might just take a week away and come down south to do some bits if there was enough work to justify the trip.

Well my supposed 'specialist' refuses to change my gearbox oil as he says 'it's an electronic box and is sealed for life' and my head gasket has got the dribbles too....so theres a couple of jobs to start you off Ian, oh and I have the usual premature tyre wear on the two front tyres on the outer edges that all the places I have been to have said the alignment is spot on...Go on Ian, my local cafe does a brilliant black pudding, and I'm sure I could find you a decent pint of ale too!
