W203 C270
Hello to everybody,

I'm new MB owner and have question about fitting 16" wheels under my C270 2003. Originally there is 17" 7,5 front and 8,5 rear with 225/45 tyres.
I would like to but 16" wheels but original MB dosen't fit (big supports).
Is there any 16" wheels that fit?

Thanks!

If your C Class has the larger sport pack brakes (drilled brake disks and Mercedes-Benz lettering on the front calipers) then unfortunatley you need 17" wheels for clearance of the braking system.

Yes, theres sport pack brakes.
Now I wonder if it possible to change them or it does'nt make sense!?
Reason is that our roads here in Estonia are not very smooth and every time I hit the hole I feel like punch into face.
I tried to put 225/50 tyres and it really made difference but fuel consumption went up to 6,3 from 5,4.

Keep the 17's look much nicer :thumb:

Yep, I just lowered the tire pressure to 2,3 bar and it pretty much did the job. Enjoying my ride again ;)

Does anyone know if changing the tyre dimensions affects the fuel consumption?

A wider tyre will have more friction on the road and more aerodynamic drag leading to worse economy.

Yes, thats clear. Then it's mystery. I've changed 225/45 to 225/50 and noticed rise of the consumption. After short time I had to change the valve cover seal and some other smaller one. I thought it's because of these tyres. It felt that the engine had a bit trouble to accelerate cause the radius of the wheel was bigger. Maybe I'm mistaking but it was only logical explanation for this. Even at service they couln't tell the reason for higher consumption. Anyway I changed back.
