Just wondering if anyone could help me out with a part No. and price for a 2000 E320 CDI boot floor / spare wheel-well panel.

Mine has succumbed to the much discussed rust problem, and is the only part that MB will not do for me under the Mobilo warranty. The bodyshop have estimated £200 + for the panel and £££££ parts & labor to paint & fit. I'm sure that the panel would not cost that much surely?

If I can get hold of a panel at a reasonable price I'm pretty confident that the bodyshop will do me a good deal on the parts & labour as thay owe me a few favours due to their poor QA and the fact that they have had my car for a total of 11 weeks, 8 of which has been for correcting poor finishing from the initial 3 weeks work.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Mark.

Not the first time we have heard of a wheel well not being covered under Mobilo-life.
The water gets in either via the rear lights or under the boot seal.

Are you sure the panel actually requires replacement, and not just a blast and paint?
For the panel to need replacement it must be severely corroded, so why won't MB cover it as it is definately through the metal corrosion. This is actually the only type of corrosion that Mobilo-life does cover.

The replacement of a boot floor is a sizeable job and will cost. You need to be getting onto MB customer care to find out why they won't cover the cost of repair.
The car obviously qualifies otherwise they wouldn't repair the other parts.

This is attrocious on a five year old car.

Good luck.

Reminds me of 1970s Alfas and Fiats!

I have some corrosion on my W203 (registered Sept 2000) on the boot floor near the rear axle where rubber plugs have not sealed well and the paint has blistered up on both sides. Some wire brushing and waxoyl has stopped any further rust. Yours sounds far more serious than this though. has it rotted through?

The floor pan has not rotted through, but has just started to bubble on RHS where welded to bodywork. I too had the rusty holes where rubber grommets are done, but paid £150 for the pleasure whilst the car was in for other warranty paintwork. It is the bodyshop that have said it needs replacing, as they reckon it will only keep coming back, but I don't think it is too bad. I will probably give it a go myself before it gets any worse, then get it over my dad's pit and give the whole underside a good clean up & rustproofing with some shutz or the like.

On the up-side, the bodyshop have agreed to reimburse my £150 when I collect my car again later this week or next.

.. Which is nice ..
