Hi, I have a 2001 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E220 CDI with 76,000 mileage. There is a problem with exhaust tail pipe smoke on acceleration. I have recently got the injectors overhauled and B-service done. The car still gives out black smoke on acceleration. The car’s pull is OK (no loss of power) and fuel consumption is pretty good. Can anyone help to guide me what the possible cause might be? Thank you in advance, Paul.

All diesels smoke on acceleration but if yours is really black then suspect over-fuelling

Suspect either a sticky EGR valve or a dodgy air mass sensor.

Maybe the car has had a re-map, I use to have a 2001 e320 cdi, when it was standard it was fine but as soon as i had the car re-maped it started chucking out black smoke on hard acceleration. it's nothing to worry about.
