If i were going back to W203 ownership , i wouldnt hesitate in looking for a C270 CDI. Super engine and plenty power and plenty mpg's to go with it.

You're quite right, I like the idea of the 230K and whereas my 220 was fine, I think a 270 would be just about right When I finally do my proper search I daresay the 'right one' will be hard to find

Must confess if i was going to change my W203 it would be for 270 or 320. Nice car though.

Be careful with MB direct cars.I have seem some truly awful cars come from them. Go over it carefully.
I did a service on one once that had very badly repaired body panels. It was so bad that none of the doors lined up and had to be slammed to shut them. I think it had had very hard shunt.
