Hi all, currently got 17" alloys with 225/ 45 / 17 on the front and 245 / 40 /17 on the back.

Wondered if 255/35/18 on the front and 285/35/18 on the back would be ok, ie will they fit?

Have you been looking at SL wheels by any chance? I've looked into that same tyre size and on my E-Class there would be a chance of rubbing.

The 285 rear tyres cost an absolute fortune, you are probably talking £250 each if you're lucky.

that's what I paid for Continental Sport Contact 3 MO a month or so ago

To put the 285 cost into perspective, my brother-in-law has just had a full set of 255/35/18 budget tyres put on his BM* for £340 by my supplier....

yeah, but when I compare the CLS tyre cost to the Boxster 19" rear tyre cost .. £344 each .. it seems cheap!

The largest tyres on the W209 CLK as standard were on the CLK55AMG, sizes were Front 7.5J - 225/40x18, Rear 8.5J - 255/35x18,
if that's any help.

The 285's on the rear are 4.6% out compared to the standard rolling circumference. 285/30x18 would be a better match, but you would need wheels 9.5 to11J, not sure the CLK has that much space under the arches.

I have 255/35/18 on the rears and 235/40/18 at the front I to bounce all over the place with these! Not too uncomfortable but wouldn't take more...
