2009 W164 - Permanent TomTom mount?

I've got a new W164 arriving shortly, and I've ordered it with the standard Audio 20 as I already have a TomTom Go 940 Live (or whatever it's called). I travel a lot and use a lot of hire cars, so prefer it this way, but I want a permanent mount with discretely "plumbed" power (i.e. no fag lighter plug).

I've looked at the "Brodit" mounts, but it looks as if one will be too close to the wheel, and the other one they offer would be too low and too far away....

The air vent mounts look as if they'll restrict the airflow....

Does anyone have any recommendations?

IMHO airvent mount will be far too flimsy to take the weight of a Tomtom 940.

They are pretty weighty units ;)

I've been thinking along the same lines. I have a 920 (about 3 years old now), but about the same weight and size as the 940 I believe.

I just wished Tomtom would design a mount that is capable of being mounted on top of the dash, then all the cables (I use a separate plug-in mic as well as the power supply) can be run behind the dash somewhere. Why oh why do car manufacturers not install 12V outlets somewhere discreetly in the top/side of the dash to save trailing cables all over the place :dk:

I agree with you on that.....all the airvent mounts I have seen so far look like crap!

Anyone know a good permanent mount solution?
