2012 Audi A6

The new XF 3.0S Diesel is also very rapid! That would be my choice.

XF does not have the engineering integrity and depth of an E class.

Sit in each, look around carefully at how it is put together and you will see what I mean.

I have 3 mates who have XF diesels 2 of which are the S. All say the same thing thought , the E class is definitely put together a lot better.:D
The XF does seem to shrink when inside it though and sport mode does make it handle better not just hold the gears longer. The E class always feels what it is, a large solid car, capable of starship miles in comfort.:thumb:

2.7tdi is a 6cyl btw. Your dealer is a moron!! But then so is my Audi dealer.

BMW 5 series is an absolute belter, I would put my 535d as probably the only car you ever really need, it does comfort and sporty like no other.

However, I feel you made the right choice, cause if you want sporty buy something smaller.

Should have known not to trust a salesman. (Audi)

Re; something smaller, maybe next time, but at 6ft 2 & 16 stone and the ever louder tick tock of time, I don't want to have sporty and not be able to cope with it!

Agree Audis are boring.

Mercedes are mixed. I think the E212 is completely anonymous. The CLS ( not the just announced model) has dated very quickly. The E coupe and convertible are attractive in an pleasantly understated way.

Spent a while looking at an SLS theother day. OK, but not really impressive, too derivative. The SLS in question had the matt finish and was parked in a London street ( Saville Row). Itwas attracting no attention, a Ferrari ( not up on Ferraris so don't know which one, but was new) parked nearby had a stream of people stopping to look at it.
